Oh what a morning! Remember the cocoa crusaders? http://raspberrysmiles.wordpress.com/2008/10/15/sweet-as-chocolate/ This is just as bad, if not worse.
Mom wanted a shower. Turned on the water and went to see what boys were up to. Found one stinker 6 feet up in the air throwing clothing down from a shelf. Second stinker 4 feet up in the air headed in the same direction. Mom removed both offenders from our closet and ushered them to bedroom to play.
Fast forward a mere 10 minutes. Quick shower, no hair/make-up, clothes already laid out. Mom hears boys cheerfully playing, smiles to self, “I have such sweet boys” Finds this:

That would be 2 nearly full bags of flour, 1 bag of sugar and baking soda. The powdered sugar and cornstarch miraclously still intact. Harrison is dancing. Noah not to blame you think? Oh, no. He has taken all potatoes, onions, garlic and taco seasoning packets (3 for 99 cents this week) and is playing in the living room. Noah says angelicly, “Mom, take a picture!” Harry just dances with glee! Mom does not laugh at this point.
Boys banished to bathroom for time out while Mom cleans up mess. Less than 5 minutes later, I find this:

That’s right, they painted the bathroom and themselves with toothpaste. Mom still not laughing!
I gave them a shower, dressed them, and ushered them into the backyard. They are still there!

Quite honestly the best thing about camping was the 3 hour nap the next day! We had such a good time, I want to invest in new camping gear for a family, as opposed to a couple (ie. small tent)

Actually, all four of us fit in there, and slept all night long. I woke a few times with nowhere to put my head, but sleep happened. The boys mostly used the tent as an arena for ultamite fighting.
The best part about camping, aside from the aforementioned nap, was the family time. There aren’t many behavior issues when kids have free-range of nature. Keeping the 4 kiddos out of the fire was the only real concern.

Simple is better. We had way more fun camping than at the waterpark resort, and it only cost $23 plus the cost of food.
We’re camping every summer from here on out!

2 years old today!

You are a blessing. It is a privilege and an honor to be your mother. We had a rough start, and some year I may stop bringing that up. I thought children needed sleep in more that 1-2 hour stretches the first 20 or so months of life. Apparently, that is not true in every case.
You are a gem! You wake me up every morning in that sing-songy shouty voice, “Downstairs Mommy” Your verbal skills are off the chart. We can have actual conversations, and you bring up the topics.
You want to be just like Noah and spend most of your time doing exactly what he does.
You are kind. To animals, people and objects.
You are so willing to serve and help. You feed Ranger and Hot Dog. You love to cook and take out the trash.
You are obedient. We really don’t have many discipline issues (let’s keep it that way). You do as you are told cheerfully and God loves that!
You say the best prayers; thanking God for whomever is on your heart. Uncle Russ, Nathan, and Bob are frequently mentioned.
You are smart. You can count to 10, know your colors, and have conversational skills of an older child.
You are adventurous like your Daddo! You love to climb, jump, and run really fast. You are not adventurous with food. Veggies rarely pass through those lips, and you could live on cheese, yougart, fruit and bread if we let you.
Despite all your skills, you are still my baby. You are healthly attached to your parents. You love to snuggle and say, “Hold me mama!”
You smell like sunshine and energy. I love you!

Love is for Joey. Harrison has a particular fondness for the red-haired lad. He kissed him and held him for nearly 10 minutes.

We’re sad about out no toad summer, but Grandma Carol brought a fatty toad for us to have. The boys chased him for awhile. We put him in our toad abode, but it seems he prefers the trees and woodchips. Now fatty toad lives in our backyard!

We went to the State Fair. We did all the Fair stuff, except the chocolate bacon. We ate a cream puff, saw some cows and pigs and goats and sheep and horses and tractors. We rode the sky glider. Noah and I got matching henna turtle tattoos.

Oh, I almost forgot kite flying. But it really didn’t flow with the title. Rob and the boys flew a kite at the beach last weekend. It was so windy that it took no effort at all. Look at Harry just sittin’ watching his kite fly.

Life is good!

We have never spent as much time at the beach as we have the past few weeks. How can we resist when we are blessed to live so close, have so many beach options, have the beach be so clean, and happen to love the outdoors?

We went to both the Lighthouse Beach and North Beach this week, and it’s only Wed, maybe we’ll have to hit another beach this Friday!

Noah fell in love with the Lighthouse Beach. Not sure what he loved best, maybe the big rocks to climb, the little rocks to throw, the winch to turn, the rock table we ate our lunch on, the apple tree, or the driftwood. I think it was all of it!!
On Wednesday we drove to the Quarry Beach. We never even got out of the car. Noah and Harry took one look at where we were, and cried, “NO Quarry Beach, it’s too mucky!!!” So we drove to North Beach.
Wow! Perfect beach day to lunch and play. We made a sand castle and built a water resivore with moat. We met a trio of siblings who helped us make it bigger and better.

Then we took turns burrying each other in the sand. I cannot believe how brave my little men were. I must have burried each of them 5 times!
