Look at that sweet face.

Can you imagine that sweet looking child screaming at 1:30 in the morning, and staying up to play and eat yougart for a couple of hours before falling back asleep somewhere past 3am?  Can you imagine him being somewhat cranky in the am, not wanting to get dressed, pelting his mom with frig magnets and screaming as a sleep-deprived mom tries to get 2 kids single-handedly out the door before work?  (Dad’s working 3am-11am, so we can feel bad for him too)

How about this sweet face?

Can you imagine his immense displeasure at being told that he must go to daycare after an entire week of a family stay-cation, tons of outdoor fun and family adventures?  I can assure it was great.

But Rob’s son, is not going to let a little thing like Mom saying that he HAD to go to daycare ruin his morning.  Oh no!

I thought I was pretty smart bribing the kiddos with Curious George fruit snacks to get in their carseats.  Worked like a charm with the first sweet face.  He just about lept into his carseat.

Noah decided to head back inside.  I followed, but before I could reach the door I heard a click and a very sweet and deliberate, “Ha Ha, I locked you out!“

No way was I to be outsmarted by a 3.5 year old.  After all, I locked my own mother in the basement at the tender age of 2.5 years.  Hide-a-key was dug out, and Noah was carried kicking and screaming to the car.

As a post-though, I probably should have made him practice locking and un-locking the door 20 times as a creative punishment, but the situation did not present as a teachable moment.  I assure, we will be re-visiting NOT locking your mother out of the house in the near future.  But this morning, will, I’m certain be one of stories to tell for years to come.
