We took the Christmas tree down the other day. Noah and Harrison sure had fun pulling the lights off. Noah quickly went into Christmas tree withdrawal. He loved coming downstairs every morning and plugging in the lights. He loved pointing out which ornaments he had made. He loved having the Christmas tree in the house.
The day after we took down the tree, he was asking to set it back up. I had to do something, poor kid was nearly depressed. We decided to cut up the tree, use the needles and small branchs for natural mulch around our raspberry bushes and other shrubs that wouldn’t mind the needles, and cut up the trunk for firewood. This suggestion satisfied Noah immensely, and he and I spent the better part of an hour cutting the branches off the tree. He hauled them away, while I “stole” them back to use in my raspberry bed. He hasn’t asked about the tree since except to say how “Dad will cut the Christmas tree with the chop saw, not the chain saw, ’cause Noah and Harry no like the chain saw. Too loud”
