Harrison supervised Grandpa Polack (aka Grandpa with the dog) fix his car.

Noah checked out Dad’s new truck tires.

Then he unloaded a whole truck full of wood single-handedly.

He took a quick break.

Then we were off to the Racine Family Club picinic, complete with hot dogs, bounce house and a pinata!

A good day was had by all!

It’s my new favorite color!

It all started with a $2 chair the day West Bend was on sale.  I thought, I’ll paint it blue, then let vines grow on it.  Now I can’t stop.  I’ve painted metal work, wall hangings turned garden accents, and now this rocker.  I love the pop of blue in my garden.

Harrison is at the wonderful age where he wants to help with everything.  He also empties the dishwasher,  loads and starts the dryer, sorts the laundry, vaccuums will retrieve items from the frig/pantry as requested.  I thought I better get some visual proof, as I fear this is only a stage.
My goal is to raise boys who know how to clean and cook to make their wives lives easier.

I didn’t do a post for Harrison’s birthday because I started this blog after the fact, but today he got his 1 year old shots, so that’s good enough reasons to list:

Top Ten Reason’s we love Harrison Tiger

  1. You are snuggly, you give great hugs
  2. You know how to tickle
  3. I secretly love that you have chosen to sleep with me. It’s nice to have you close all night long.  Whenever you want to start sleeping through the night is fine by me, though.  I don’t mean to keep you up!
  4. You do everything your big brother Noah does, whether it’s carrying a piece of wood the size of you, or going up and down the stairs just like him, or tackling Dad.  You always want to be doing just like Noah.
  5.  It’s easy to make you laugh, and you have such a sweet belly laugh.
  6. You have so many words: what’s that, all done, dad, Noah, thank you, cat, ball, truck…
  7. You are helpful.  You sweep, vaccuum, unload the dishwasher, sort laundry, and you do it all with a smile!
  8. You love the outdoors, bugs, frogs and sand.
  9. You have taught me patience.  More than I ever thought I could have.
  10.  Most of all, we love you because you are ours, and you are cute.

I think we’ll keep you, BUT we may not have another….

He’s so brave!

“I cleaned the toilet and the sun burst forth”

Direct quote from Rob.  I didn’t think he believed in cleaning toilets.  I’ve NEVER seen him do it before, EVER, EVER, EVER…

Upon inerview, Rob reported the reason he cleaned the toilet was “It was dirty”  In fact, “It [the aforementioned toilet] had exceeded my standard of dirty.  It was no longer clean, and therefore I needed to clean it”

My question is how can I apply this to other areas of the house without going completly insane from having a dirty house?  I must stress that this is the first time in 5 years together that he has cleaned a toilet.

Catherine and Carol trying out my new H2O mop

My mother, Carol, purchased me this new steam mop.  She did it just to bless me.  I guess she heard me talk about how I wanted one, and how my floor gets dirty 5 minutes after I clean it.  3 men with dirty stinky feet, a huge black lab, and 2 sandboxes lend to a filthy floor.

Well, the mop works great!  You can even use it on carpet and fabric!  My house “feels” cleaner.  We’ll see if Rob notices…

Thanks MOM, you made my day!

Noah’s First Day of School

He wore his new red sweatshirt, and his cool camo shoes.  He brought the monkey backpack that he chose, and his lunch box for show-n-tell.  He went tenatively, although he’s excited to ride the bus with the stop sign on it.  Rob dropped him off; probably best, Mom would cry and it would be harder for Noah.

Here’s Harrison’s response…

"Why do you want to leave me???"

Noah’s Birthday Party

We did it very low key.  Just a few family members, a huge pizza, and an amazing ice cream cake.

The best part was singing “Happy Birthday” to Noah.  He just beamed the entire song.  It was so worth it!

Harry mostly just enjoyed the cake.
